Course Update for October 2, 2015

October 1 is here and it seems to have brought the cold weather. The last couple of days have felt like fall: cooler temperatures and windy. The long range weather forecast looks good for golf and even better for the turf department to complete some fall cultural practices. October is a great month to complete aerification and verti-cutting of fairways followed by sand topdressing. Yesterday we began solid tyne aerification in the valley on holes #11 and #17 and applied a good amount of sand topdressing to the top half of #17 fairway. Course Update for October 11, 2013

Fall is upon us and that means cooler mornings with longer dews and leaves everywhere! The turf team will work hard to keep the course free of leaves and debris by blowing and mulching leaves in the rough, but throughout the day more leaves will fall so keep a close eye on your ball. Tees will be completed throughout the day when time permits and…

Fall is upon us and it is the time of year when we begin to aerify the course. It was a hot, humid and dry summer, causing significant stress on the turf. Tees and fairways have done well, but some greens show signs of turf decline. Over the next month we will aerify and topdress tees. The new tees have excessive thatch from the original sod, keeping them soft and wet. With an aggressive aerification program over the next year we will eliminate this thatch and produce a firmer, far superior teeing surface. Some fairways will receive solid tyne aerification…
